If the bot could support importing and exporting of emojis then we could set up a central emoji repo with different classifications for emojis.

So say you wanted bunch of sports emojis. We could have a central repo for openly created emojis and someone can just do a bot command that pulls them all in.

I see this helping as I as a streamer could have my own repo of emojis and if anyone wants them, we now have access to each other's content.

For instance blob fish emoji repo.

If you really wanna go crazy this would be an excellent use case for FASP, but that'd require an entire ActivityPub integration. But it'd be a HUGE opportunity to learn AP, there are tools and libraries you could leverage, and that opens this bot up to an even insaner number of possibilities. But a massive lift I'd imagine.

One thing I will say up front is anything related to ActivityPub is out of scope for Owlbot. It can't access Owncast's internals for interacting with the fediverse, so trying to work with anything there would be extremely messy.

My biggest question is what would such a feature would look like? You mention a central repository, so that would entail some extra infrastructure or a website to hold all the custom emojis.

Maybe they can federate between instances? If so, Owncast might be a better place for that given it owns all of ActivityPub.

Well owncast makes public people's emojis. Could point to someone's URL to import their emojis from their Owncast.

I don't know if Owncast supports different folders for emojis. Could be as simple as that.
